Max out mage towers, so you can get the 30% bonus on them. I forgot to write it but the key upgrades were mage towers. I did attempt a sand wraith execution with Alric and successfully got one of them at least. The way I won was by creating lots of mage towers, an extra barracks or two, and one DWAARP by the south. You might even add a barracks somewhere in the east later.
It'll help with terror dunes and mobs in general. You might consider turning the awkward looking mid-northern tower spot into a barracks later. My strategy was to focus heavily on mage towers since war hounds are the only thing that give them a problem, but the DWAARP helps with that. You might as well add in an artillery tower to turn into a DWAARP once you can, because this map has massive mobs especially with the sand wraiths. The tower placements are awkward, but a barracks by the south does work. Either way, the standard strategy wins again, except it's hard to see which areas should be the focal point.
